Child Service Coordination

Text Box: Child Service Coordination is a voluntary program that helps families find and use community resources. Child Service Coordination  provides developmental screenings in the home free of charge. Services are available for all children birth to age five with special needs. Other children may be eligible if there are significant concerns about their health, growth or development. Child Service Coordination provides both nurses and social workers. Am I eligible for the Child Service Coordination Program?
 
 All children birth to age five years of age with special needs are eligible.  Other children of this age range may be eligible if there are concerns about their health, growth or development.
 
How much will the program cost?
 
     Your family can participate in this program free of charge.
 
How can the Child Service Coordination Program support children and families? 

Your Child Services Coordinator has information about a wide variety of family-oriented resources. Your Coordinator will:
Discuss family strengths and concerns through home visits, telephone calls and other personal contacts;
Identify programs, services and resources that meet your family's needs;
Provide developmental screenings;
Serve as a link between you and your child's doctor or nurse;
Suggest ways you can strengthen parent-child relationships;
Introduce you to parent support programs when available; and
Offer you encouragement and support
How can my family get a child service coordinator?

 
Children may be referred to this program through a variety of agencies and individuals, including family members, hospitals, doctors, nurses, early intervention programs, sickle cell disease programs, child care centers and others. Individuals who have concerns regarding a child/children in their care may also call to make a referral to Bladen County Health Department at 910-862-6900.
